The Local Residents Temporarily Fled Due To The Heavy Artillery Firing By SAC In Nan Yin, Hopin

The SAC forces has been firing heavy artillery weapons day and night without any clashes in Nan Yin Village, Hopin, Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, so the number of residents temporarily fled to other villages has increased, said Nanyin residents.

“Previous year, there was a woman whose leg was amputated and a young man died due to the SAC’s targetless heavy artillery. This kind of incident has happened before, so the local residents fled in fear that same cases might happen again,” said a Nan Yin resident who was fleeing to Mohnyin.

The SAC forces has been firing heavy weapons without any clashes in Hopin, Nan Yin Village for 3 days since February 26th until last night.

The above Nan Yin resident said, “The weapons are fired from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, and from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the evening. They fired it for three consecutive days, so no one dares to live in Nan Yin village anymore. They fled to other places.”

As a result, the fearful residents no longer dared to stay in the village and temporarily seek refuge in the nearby village. And the SAC always fire incessantly with heavy weapons without any target.

In addition, according to the locals, there were (14) injured civilians and there have been up to 10 fatalities in Mohnyin Township and Mogaung Township in the 6 months from last year to the beginning of this year due to the SAC’s incessantly targetless firing.
