The Military And Police Joint Forces Opened Fire And Raided A Gambling Den In Myitkyina

A gambling den near Basic Education High School, Shwe Nyaung Pyin Ward, Myitkyina was raided at about 6:30 PM yesterday by more than 30 joint military and police forces in Myitkyina.


The local Residents who live near the place where the incident happened said, “Before, they were paying 80,000,000 MMK tax per month, but now people are saying that the military and police forces came to arrest them because it has passed 5 days to pay the tax. Perhaps there must be other issues. They’ve been working together from the start,” he said.


Eyewitnesses said that the cars and motorbikes that were seized when the military and police came to raided following with several gunshots were taken to the No.2 Police Station and some of those who ran away were also arrested and taken away by the Military and Police Forces.


The gambling den usually employs between 50 and 80 people and it is not yet known exactly how many people were arrested. “The employees are usually between 50 and 80. I don’t know how many people were arrested last night. We didn’t dare to go out to look because of the sounds of gunshots,” said the people nearby.


In addition, until around noon today, the Military and Police joint forces are guarding the area around the gambling den.


Similarly, there were incidents that Shwe Taung Garden in Myitkyina Town and gambling hall at the former 831 Club were also closed down after the transition of government officials.


According to the subsequent news, the arrested persons were not recruited according to the latest Conscription Law as the rumors have spread, but are currently in the custody of the Myitkyina Supreme Court for trial.
