The Military Council to Hold the 78th Kachin State Day on a Grand and Festive Scale

The military council will hold the 78th Kachin State Day on an unusually grand and festive scale this year at the Manau Ground in Shatapru Ward, Myitkyina, according to sources.

“Starting today, all market stalls in front of the Manau Ground have been told not to sell. For about four days from today, vendors are not allowed to set up stalls or open their shops. Some people still opened early this morning, thinking that the authorities were not awake yet. They said the Kachin State Day celebration will be held, and that the Manau dance will be performed in a lively and crowded manner,” a Myitkyina resident said.

The 78th Kachin State Day ceremony will be organized and led by the Kachin State Government. The program will include a ceremonial address, Manau dance performances, exhibition booths, the awarding of honorary titles and prizes, and traditional boxing challenge matches, according to information from a coordination meeting held yesterday.

To mark Kachin State Day, the opening ceremony of the Victory Manau dance will be celebrated collectively on January 9. In addition, the opening ceremony of Polytechnic University (Myitkyina) will also be held. Traditional boxing competitions featuring around 30 bouts will be conducted on January 8 and 9, it is reported.
