The road was temporarily closed, and travel vehicles were stuck in Pay Gyi village due to clashes between anti-coup joint forces and SAC forces at the entrance of ShweBo Town on the Myitkyina-Mandalay Union Highway, according to a driver who was stuck on the road.
“We departed from Myitkyina at 1:00 PM and stayed overnight in Inndaw. We left Inndaw at 6:00 AM this morning, but all vehicles are currently parked and waiting on the side of the road due to a clash between the SAC and the PDF near the entrance of ShweBo,” the driver stated.
The clashes between the SAC and the anti-coup joint forces lasted two hours, beginning at 12:00 noon on March 14 and continuing until 1:30 AM, leaving many travelers stranded in Pay Gyi village.
Following the hour-and-a-half-long clashes between the two armed forces, the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) conducted clearing operations, and travelers waited for the road to be reopened.
