Due to heavy and continuous rainfall, travel along the Myitkyina–Laiza–Nang Zaw road in Kachin State has become increasingly difficult, especially around the Hka Chyang Stream and Man Dong Stream areas, where flooding and overflow have occurred, drivers report.

"Even though it’s the rainy season, the rain hasn’t stopped at all. Travel has become really difficult the water level is high, and roads are damaged. Some vehicles are even getting stuck," one driver said.

The roads have become rough and damaged due to the incessant rain, forcing banana cargo trucks to reduce their load weight in order to pass through certain sections by using roadside areas.

"The road is extremely rough. The banana trucks can’t handle the full weight. That’s why we’ve had to reduce the weight of the bananas being transported," the source added.

It is currently reported that heavy rainfall in the upper parts of Kachin, including the Laiza area, is causing widespread flooding across lowland regions.
