Due to the closure of the Myitkyina-Shwebo road, trapped passenger vehicle convoys have been repeatedly attacked by the military with airstrikes, resulting in civilian casualties and deaths, according to statements from drivers.

"Recently, the trapped vehicles have been bombed by the military, causing some vehicles to be damaged. People have also been injured and killed," said one driver.

On the previous day, December 16, the military council conducted airstrikes on trapped traveler vehicle convoys near Ma U village and Ywa Thit Kung village on the southern side of Shwebo Township.

Due to the military council's airstrikes, passenger vehicles were damaged, and civilians suffered injuries and deaths. The Wetlet Information Network also reported that the military carried out 18 airstrikes on Shwebo Township within one hour.

Since the checkpoints on the Myitkyina-Shwebo road section remain closed by the military council, drivers have advised: "If it is not urgently necessary, please do not travel by road and stay calmly."
