Travellers On The Myitkyina-Sumprabum-Putao HighWay Are In Trouble Of Transportation Due To The New Military Conscription Law

The travelers are worried about traveling due to the news of the recruitment of new recruits by the anti-coup armed forces and SAC forces in Putao Township, Kachin State.

Since the beginning of February, the passenger cars have been interrogated and some youths have been detained at the Anti-Coup Armed Forces joint checkpoint and the SAC checkpoints along the Myitkyina-Sumprabum-Putao road.

Yesterday, a passenger vehicle traveling from Myitkyina to Putao was interrogated at the joint checkpoint of anti-coup armed forces in Sumprabum Township and the two young passengers were taken and detained at that checkpoint.

“One of the two was talking on the phone near the checkpoint. The checkpoint guard told him to stop talking on the phone but he didn’t stop talking on the phone, so the guard told them that he had a question to ask and detained both of them. It is assumed that both of the young guys might be from Putao,” said a passenger from that vehicle.

The SAC settled the checkpoint and is conducting strict inspections at the exit of Sumpiyang village and on the way to Insiyang Village.

In addition to interrogating travelers passing through the checkpoints, they are also asking the destination where they go.
