Two civilians from Kat Maw village, located along the Myitkyina-Hpakant road, who had been displaced by ongoing clashes, were arrested by the Military Commission while attempting to return to their village to check on their homes, cattle, and belongings after being away for a prolonged period.

Earlier this week, two Kat Maw villagers Mr. Hpaulu Brang Lai and A deacon Ndau Tu Lar were detained by the Military Commission on their way back to the village. Although the deacon was released on the evening of November 19, the other individual remains missing, and the family has been unable to contact him for four days, prompting deep concern among relatives.

Because Military Commission troops have set up camps and are actively operating around the entrance hills of Kat Maw village along the Hpakant road, local residents have been too afraid to return to their homes. Their presence and activities near the village have raised fears among locals that clashes may intensify again.

Since April of this year, the Military Commission has been deploying large numbers of troops along the Myitkyina-Hpakant road, and fighting has continued to escalate. As a result, civilians have been fleeing into the forests and mountains for safety up to the present day.
