In Kachin State’s Mogaung Township, authorities have announced that unlicensed motorcycles, vehicles, and other transport modes found operating or being sold in villages and wards will face legal action, according to a local resident.

“Among them are police and fire brigade members. They didn’t specify when the crackdown would begin. They only said that if unlicensed cars or motorcycles are seen being driven or sold, they will be seized and strict action will be taken. They didn’t mention anything about issuing licenses. They just warned that unlicensed, fake, or duplicated vehicles will be confiscated, and violators will face severe penalties,” the local resident said.

On June 2, a joint team of police and fire brigade members conducted warnings using three-wheeled vehicles, spreading the message across several villages, including Namati Town.

“Now that they’re also targeting motorcycles, we have to be more careful when traveling. If they start seizing bikes in our area, farmers and laborers who rely on them for work will face even greater difficulties in transportation,” the resident added.

Locals are concerned that the crackdown on both unlicensed cars and motorcycles will make transportation even harder for residents.

During a meeting in Naypyidaw on May 20, authorities emphasized the need to identify and take action against unlicensed vehicles, motorcycles, fake license plates, and forged licenses.

Following this, starting June 1, the State Administration Council (SAC) has been systematically seizing unlicensed cars and motorcycles nationwide. Reports also confirm that in Kachin State’s Myitkyina Industrial Zone, near the Roundabout, inspections and seizures of unlicensed vehicles began today.
