Displaced residents from Hpakant- Senghpra village who have fled to the Namti area are in urgent need of food and other essential supplies, according to the internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The displaced people said that as the displacement period has become prolonged, it has become increasingly difficult to find food, while the money and supplies they brought with them have nearly run out. They added that the presence of children and elderly people has made the situation even more difficult and pressing.
Currently, the most needed items in the IDP camps include food, medicine, basic household utensils, and as the cold season approaches, warm clothing, blankets, and daily wear.
The IDPs reportedly include 89 people from 19 households who fled from Senghpra village along the Hpakant road due to fighting. Because of the limited shelter space, some of the displaced have moved toward Mogaung town, while others are staying temporarily with relatives.
In addition, some families have relocated to the Jaw Masat IDP camp in Myitkyina, where 81 households are now residing.
