More than one thousand internally displaced people (IDPs) who are taking refuge in Namti town of Mogaung Township, Kachin State, are in need of urgent assistance, including shelter and food supplies according to sources.

Due to the ongoing clashes, villagers from communities along the Hpakant-Ledo road have fled, and some are currently sheltering in Namti town on their own. With the seasonal changes of winter, medicine is also needed for those who have fallen ill, and warm clothing and blankets are also required, according to reports.

It is reported that, the temporary shelters built for them were constructed only with tarpaulin sheets, and as the displacement period has prolonged, the tarpaulin covers have deteriorated. New tarpaulin sheets are needed to improve their living conditions.

The IDPs currently staying in Namti are from Nam Ya, Dumbung, Lawa, Lagawng, and Kum Tsai Yang villages, and around one thousand of them have been displaced since April due to ongoing clashes.
