In the KIA headquarters area of Laiza, which has suffered flooding twice, rescue and cleanup operations are still ongoing in the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. It is learned that in the Je Yang IDP camp, there is currently an urgent need for both drinking water and water for general use.
The worst flooding occurred on August 4, and due to the disaster, all water pipes installed in the IDP camp were destroyed. Landslides also caused further damage, making it necessary to reinstall and repair the water supply system from scratch.
As a result, there is now a critical shortage of drinking water and water for daily use in Je Yang IDP camp, and the situation is said to be extremely difficult. Furthermore, with a large number of people living in the camp, the relevant KIO administration is working to arrange rescue measures and provide access to clean drinking water.
It is also reported that during the floods, the IDPs lost homes, kitchen equipment, clothing, blankets, and other belongings, and are still in need of assistance.
In addition, during the period of heavy flooding, electrical poles were damaged and destroyed, leaving Laiza town without electricity since the flooding on the 4th.
