USDP Claims Victory in Nearly 60 Townships in Phase Two of the Election

According to news reports, in Phase Two of the election held by the military junta, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) has already won in nearly 60 out of 100 townships.


On January 11, the military conducted elections in 100 townships as Phase Two of the election process. Recent reports state that the USDP has secured victories in nearly 60 townships.


In Kachin State’s Waimaw Township, 29 polling stations were opened, beginning at 6:00 a.m. in January, and voting reportedly took place peacefully at the respective polling stations, according to posts published on the Kachin State government’s page.


As part of Phase Two of the election, the military conducted elections in Kachin State’s Machanbaw Township, Mohnyin Township, and Waimaw Township, as well as a total of 100 townships nationwide.


According to SAC announcement they will hold Phase Three of the election on January 25, covering 63 townships. The same statements also note that elections cannot be held in a total of 65 townships.
