USDP to Contest with Over 1,000 Candidates in Military Commission’s Planned Election

According to an announcement by the election commission under the military, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) will contest with more than 1,000 candidates, the largest number, in the upcoming election organized by the junta.
Within the USDP, (265) seats will be contested for the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House), (156) seats for the Amyotha Hluttaw (Upper House), (569) seats for the Region and State Assemblies, and (28) seats for the Ethnic Affairs Ministers, totaling (1,018) candidates.
In the nationwide election organized by the military commission, six political parties will contest:
The Union Solidarity and Development Party, the Kyar Phyu Party, the Union of Ethnic Nationalities Unity Party (UENUP), the People’s Pioneer Party (PPP), the People’s Party, and the Myanmar Farmer's Development Party (MFDP).
In addition, according to the commission’s statement, there will be a total of (4,963) independent candidates contesting in each of the regions and states.
