Vehicle Carrying Drugs Seized by KIA

A vehicle transporting illegal drugs was seized on February 14 in Mawhan village, Mohnyin District, Kachin State, according to a statement released by the information department of the Kachin Independence Organization / Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA).

The arrest took place in Mawhan village, located near the border between Kachin and Sagaing regions. Troops from KIA Battalion (35) inspected vehicles in the area and discovered that a car driven by U Kyaw Ye Oo was transporting illegal drugs. The vehicle was subsequently seized.

U Kyaw Ye Oo, who was carrying the drugs, has been detained by the KIO/KIA Anti-Drug Task Force in Mohnyin District and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. The KIO/KIA has been prioritizing anti-drug efforts, forming anti-narcotics groups known as Pat Jasan to carry out these activities.

In areas under KIO/KIA control, regular anti-drug operations and public awareness campaigns are also being conducted.
