Voter List Signing Campaign in Putao Township

In the electoral wards of Putao Township, teams are going door to door to collect signatures from voters for the Pyithu Hluttaw (People's Assembly) voter lists, according to sources.

Regarding this matter, a local resident stated that opinions are divided among the public. On one hand, many are reluctant to provide signatures, while on the other hand, there are allegations that administrative authorities are pressuring people to sign.

"Most of us, the public, are unwilling to sign, but some are willing to have their names included in the voter list for the Pyithu Hluttaw ethnic constituency. However, we still don’t know who the candidates are. Administrative officials, such as village administrators and village heads, are continuously pressuring residents to sign," the local said.

It has also been further learned that the lists include names of deceased individuals and people who have relocated.

The announcement states that signing for these lists must be completed by October 14.

It is also reported that preparations have been made to hold elections in two constituencies within Putao Township.
