While daily clashes continue to erupt in the Hpakant and Bhamaw regions, the Waimaw area has recently seen a period of relative calm, according to local residents.

“In recent days, the Waimaw-Lamyang area has been quiet. People traveling along the roads said nothing unusual has happened. As the election draws closer, we used to hear artillery fire almost every day, but lately, it’s been silent so the situation seems calm,” a local resident said.

In contrast, the Bhamaw and Hpakant regions have faced heavy airstrikes daily, and during the past week alone, up to 35 clashes were reported across Kachin State.

Meanwhile, in the Hkawng Lang Hpu region, intense fighting has been taking place between the junta forces, joint Militia Forces, and other revolutionary troops, with continued military offensives reported.

Locals also said that junta affiliated troops have been destroying bridges and roadways in Hkawng Lang Hpu in what appears to be an attempt to secure control and facilitate the holding of elections.
