Young People Abducted in Two Cars in Shatapru Ward During Daytime

In Myitkyina’s Shatapru Ward (5), around 12:30 p.m., youths in their early twenties were taken away in two cars, according to a local woman who wished not to be named.

“With two cars, they seized some young men, mostly around their twenties, some not even twenty yet. They were taken away, but we don’t know where they were taken to,” the woman said.

It is reported that while being abducted, the youths were beaten and threatened with force, with the perpetrators saying, “Run if you can,” before taking them away.

The group responsible for the arrests has not been identified, but they reportedly came in civilian clothing and used two private cars to carry out the abductions.

In addition, around 1:00 p.m. on the same day, a young woman was also reportedly taken away in two cars at Shatapru, Manaw Ground, according to posts seen on Facebook. Of the three young women who were visiting the Manaw Ground area during the day, two managed to escape while one was beaten and taken away.
